Some years ago I was in charge of setting up a computer based business with minimal investments in licensing and to create a network as safe as possible for the employees and for the business itself. Keeping the network safe and cleaning computer viruses and reinstalling systems, even in that small network consumed a lot of time and we wanted a solution to get rid of those problems for good.
That was the point when I first discovered Open Source Software and new meanings of computing. That was the point when I finally managed to take a vacation from viruses, malware, spyware, blue screen errors and all the goodies we were blessed with and I moved myself and the business on to using Linux.
It was the same moment when, willing to thank to those guys who created and open-sourced Star Office I enrolled to contribute in the OpenOffice.org‘s magnificent community discovering the meanings of open-source community.
My name is Cristian Driga, by profession an Attorney at Law based in Romania. Since my work is quite close to IT, I started this blog as a channel for communicating news and thoughts on Open Source Software and Information Technology in general, on OpenOffice.org in particular, and for sharing with you great software and useful tips & tricks I discovered, all in the hope it helps. This is definitely not a legal blog.
